Our Eliza

PCTC co-produced Coles’ Our Eliza with the Arts and Culture Centre (ACC) in the winter of 2013. Our Eliza was directed by Lois Brown. Our Eliza explores a generation of rural Newfoundland women who toiled relentlessly under great duress while being largely overlooked as contributors to their communities. The production sold out its first weekend run in the Barbara Barrett Theatre prior to opening to full, enthusiastic houses each night. It then proceeded to sell out its second weekend run in a found space, the A.C. Hunter Library. Audience response to the production was resoundingly positive. The production then traveled to Halifax where it opened Eastern Front Theatre’s Stages First Theatre Festival before embarking on a four week tour of Newfoundland. The tour included four Arts and Culture Centres and six alternative, site specific venues on the Northern Peninsula and Central NL. All proceeds from pay-what-you-can matinee were donated to Meals On Wheels, an organization delivering hot meals to seniors in their homes. The PCTC production of Our Eliza continues to be remounted, with company approval, by Perchance Theatre Company in Cupids.
