About Building Houses

Building Houses takes place on an island in the Strait of Belle Isle and in a plantation house in St. John’s. Newfoundland is currently a British Colony maintaining undefined treaty rights with the French along the north coast where residents are labeled squatters by the crown. It is mid summer 1828 and an Indigenous guide named John has been tasked with searching for Beothuk on The Great Northern Peninsula. Shanawdithit lives in town with a European explorer while on the island Suzanna Williams has been sent to her grandmother for assistance.
